The Text-to-Speech tool allows students to listen to text on a slide instead of reading it.
Students use Text-to-Speech to:
Listen to instructions or questions
Hear reading passages out loud
Follow along while reading
1) Turn Text to Speech On/Off
To turn on Text to Speech:
1. Click the Speaker icon in the toolbar.
- When enabled, speaker icons appear next to supported text.
On iOS:
You may need to scroll along the toolbar (especially in portrait mode) to locate the speaker icon.
To turn off Text to Speech:
- Click the Speaker icon in the toolbar again.
When the feature has been disabled, the speaker icons will be removed.
2) Listen to Text
Once Text to Speech is turned on:
1. Click the speaker icon next to the text.
The text will begin playing out loud.
3) Important Notes
- Text to Speech reads text inside:
- Text boxes
- Fill in the Blank boxes.
- On iOS, imported PDF text can also be read aloud.

If you do not see speaker icons:
Make sure Text to Speech is toggled ON in the toolbar.
Confirm the text is inside a supported text box.
