Locking a roster prevents students from joining the wrong roster or creating duplicate accounts.
We recommend locking your roster once all students have successfully joined.
How to lock a roster
1. Go to the Rosters & Co-Teachers tab.
2. Open the roster you want to lock.
3. Click on the 3 dots in the top-right corner.
4. Click on Lock Options.
5. A popup will appear with two options - Lock this Roster and Single Device Login
Lock Roster
Locking a roster will only allow students already on the roster to join.
For example, if a student logs in as “Jennifer,” they cannot log in again as “Jennifers.”
Locking your roster is a recommended final step after students have joined.
Single Device Login
Single Device Login ensures that a student can only log in from one device at a time.
We highly recommend this feature, especially when using Basic student accounts to prevent students from logging into each other’s accounts.
NOTE: If a student does not log out before exiting Classkick they will see the following error: Sorry, your work is open on another device.
To give your student access, turn Single Device Login OFF, allow the student to log in, and then turn the feature back on.
When should I lock a roster?
Lock your roster after:
Students have joined the assignment
You’ve confirmed names are correct
No additional students need to join
This helps prevent:
Duplicate student names
Students joining the wrong roster
Having work completed on different accounts
