Create a roster so that Basic students can access assignments using a class code and name.
Basic students do not have accounts and join assignments using a class code each time they log in.
Click on each heading for more information about creating Basic rosters.
1) Create a Roster
You can create a roster from the Rosters & Co-Teachers tab or from within an assignment.
In Rosters:
1. Click on the Rosters & Co-Teachers tab.
2. Click +.
3. Click New Roster.
4. Name your roster and select a color.
5. Click on the Students tab.
6. Click +ADD STUDENTS.
7. Select Basic to manually add students. Separate student names with commas.
- Students will log in using the names entered here. These names become their Basic usernames.
From an Assignment:
1. Click into an assignment.
2. Click on the Assign tab.
3. Click on the green + ASSIGN A ROSTER button.
4. Click + CREATE A NEW ROSTER.
5. Name your roster and select a color.
6. Add students to the roster under the Rosters & Co-Teachers tab or have students join the roster using the class code. See the section below for more information on adding students.

2) Add Students to a Roster
Add students to a roster using the class code or by adding them manually.
Students join using a class code:
To add students using a class code on the login page,
1. In the Class Code box, have students type the class code for your particular assignment.
- If using the assignment link, the class code will populate automatically.
2. In the Name box, have students type their name.
- This name becomes the student’s Basic username.
3. Have students click GO.
Important Notes
- Students automatically populate in a roster after they log into an assignment using the class code.

Basic Students will need to use a class code each time they log in.
- Class codes are specific to each assignment/roster combination. Share the correct class code to the correct roster.

Add Students Manually:
1. In your roster view, click on the Students tab and then + ADD STUDENTS.
2. Click Basic.
3. In the Names box, type students' names separated by commas.
- Students will log in using the names entered here. These names become their Basic usernames.
Important Notes
We highly encourage you to LOCK THE ROSTER after all students have been added.
This prevents students from joining your roster with name variations.
